In addition to making cinema and television documentaries, I work closely with NGOs, charities, campaigners and activists on the frontline of the most urgent social, political and environmental issues of our world. My films range from feature-length documentaries to 60-second social media shorts.
Over the years, I've made films with NGOs who work in conflict zones, with refugee organisations, and charities tackling FGM and child abuse, extreme poverty, racism and hatred, climate change, environmental destruction and state oppression, violence and brutality.
The films help raise awareness and vastly increase fund-raising possibilities. To give one example: my documentary made with children’s charity AfriKids raised £250,000 in donations, many times more than the original budget. The film won a prestigious international Smiley Charity Film Award and is now being used by the charity to educate its staff and find new donors. A further short film I made for AfriKids is being used in a fund-raising campaign with Idris and Sabrina Elba.
Other films I have made have been broadcast around the world by broadcasters such as BBC World and Al Jazeera, showcasing the work of our charities and NGOs to millions of viewers.
